Product Overview

Twice the throughput of the BC-20s, on the same sample volume

The BC-30s is the larger of Mindray’s two 3-part haematology analyzers. It reports 21 parameters plus three histograms and runs at 70 samples per hour, against 40 for the BC-20s, while keeping the same 9 microlitre whole-blood sample volume.

The practical differences are storage and connectivity: 500,000 results with histograms, a 10.4-inch touch screen rather than 8.4, WiFi, bi-directional LIS and intelligent flagging. For a laboratory that reports electronically, LIS connectivity is usually the deciding feature rather than throughput.

Like the BC-20s this is the human clinical model — the official name uses a lowercase "s", and the veterinary equivalent is BC-30 Vet, a separate product.

Moving from a 3-part to a 5-part analyzer changes what the instrument can report, not just how fast. Connectivity is the other axis: a laboratory reporting through a LIS should treat bi-directional interface as a requirement.

FAQ

Common questions about Mindray BC-30s Auto Hematology Analyzer

What does the extra throughput buy?

70 samples per hour against 40 on the BC-20s. At moderate volume the more useful additions are the 500,000-result storage, WiFi, bi-directional LIS and intelligent flagging.

Is the name capitalised differently?

Mindray writes BC-30s with a lowercase s. BC-30 Vet is a separate veterinary product.

How much blood is needed?

9 microlitres of whole blood, or 20 microlitres prediluted — identical to the BC-20s.

What are the linearities?

WBC 0-200, RBC 0-8.00, HGB 0-280 g/L and PLT 0-4,000. The upper limits are twice the BC-20s for WBC and four times for platelets.

Can it connect to our LIS?

Bi-directional LIS is a listed feature, and WiFi capability is included. Confirm the interface protocol with ICEN against your LIS before ordering.

How does it differ from a 5-part analyzer?

This is a 3-part differential. If you need neutrophil, lymphocyte, monocyte, eosinophil and basophil separation, a 5-part model such as the BC-5150 or BC-5390CRP is the right class.
