A 6.5 microlitre sample is the point of this analyzer
The H30 Vet is Edan’s compact 3-part veterinary haematology analyzer. Its defining number is the sample volume: 6.5 microlitres of whole blood, which Edan presents as micro sampling suited to newborn animals and to small patients where drawing more blood is the limiting step.
It reports 25 CBC parameters, including eosinophil count and percentage plus the NLR and PLR ratios, and applies a separate algorithm per species with adaptive thresholds for defining the cell histograms rather than one shared human-style threshold.
Fifteen species come preset, from cat and dog through horse, cattle, camel, llama and panda, and Edan allows unlimited customised species. The interface runs on Android with on-screen reagent level sensing, and maintenance is needed once every 100 tests.
Applications
- In-clinic CBC on small patients

- Pre-anaesthetic screening
Who is this product for?
- Small animal clinics
- Exotic and zoo practice

Three-part analyzers cover routine CBC screening at low sample volume. Five-part models add reliable eosinophil, neutrophil and lymphocyte separation; reticulocyte channels are what separate the top of the range.
Common questions about Edan H30 Vet Hematology Analyzer
How much blood does one test need?
6.5 microlitres of whole blood. That is the main reason this model is chosen for newborn animals and very small patients.
Which species are preset?
Cat, dog, horse, sheep, goat, monkey, camel, llama, panda, cow, pig, rabbit, rat and mouse, plus unlimited customised profiles.
What does the adaptive threshold do?
It defines the blood cell histograms per species instead of applying one fixed threshold, which is what makes a single analyzer usable across very different cell sizes.
How often is maintenance needed?
Once every 100 tests, according to Edan.
What does it not measure?
This is a 3-part differential analyzer. If you need 5-part differentials, reticulocytes or abnormal lymphocyte and immature granulocyte flags, look at the H60 Vet or H90X Vet.
Is display size or throughput published?
Edan does not state screen size or tests per hour on the H30 Vet product page. Ask ICEN for the datasheet.
