Product Overview

A species-aware CBC analyzer for veterinary clinics

The BC-2800 Vet is Mindray’s compact veterinary haematology analyzer. It reports a 19-parameter CBC with three-part white cell differentiation and three histograms, using 13 microlitres of whole blood — a sample size that matters when the patient is a cat, a small dog or a rodent.

The difference from a human CBC analyzer is the species handling. Thirteen animal profiles come pre-programmed: cat, dog, horse, mouse, rat, rabbit, pig, cow, buffalo, monkey, camel, sheep and goat. A further three can be programmed on request, which covers species that fall outside the standard list. Reference ranges follow the selected profile rather than a single human range.

Throughput is 25 samples per hour, which is sized for a clinic bench rather than a reference laboratory. Results are stored on board for up to 20,000 samples including histograms, and the instrument carries a colour LCD for review at the analyzer.

Applications

  • Routine pre-anaesthetic and wellness CBC in small animal practice
  • Equine and large animal haematology with dedicated species profiles
  • Laboratory animal and research colony monitoring
  • In-house CBC where sending samples out delays treatment decisions

Veterinary CBC analyzers are chosen on species coverage, sample volume and throughput rather than on parameter count alone. A 3-part differential at 25 samples per hour fits clinic use; higher throughput and 5-part differentials belong in referral laboratories.

FAQ

Common questions about Mindray BC-2800 Vet Hematology Analyzer

Which animals are covered out of the box?

Thirteen species come pre-programmed: cat, dog, horse, mouse, rat, rabbit, pig, cow, buffalo, monkey, camel, sheep and goat. Three further profiles can be programmed on request.

How much blood does it need?

13 microlitres of whole blood. That is the main reason this analyzer suits small patients and rodents, where sample volume constrains what can be measured.

Are the reference ranges species-specific?

Yes. The analyzer applies the profile of the selected species rather than a single human range, which is the main practical difference from a human CBC analyzer.

What is the throughput?

25 samples per hour. That suits a clinic bench; for high-volume reference work, larger analyzers in the same category are the appropriate comparison.

How many results can it store?

Up to 20,000 sample results including histograms, so historical comparison is available on the instrument without a connected system.

How does it differ from the BC-5000 Vet?

Both are Mindray veterinary analyzers. The BC-2800 Vet is the compact 3-part, 25 samples per hour model; the BC-5000 Vet is the higher-throughput five-part option. Ask ICEN for a side-by-side sheet for your case mix.
