A benchtop chemistry analyzer sized for clinics and small laboratories
The BS-240E is Mindray’s current small-volume benchtop chemistry analyzer. It runs a constant 240 photometric tests per hour, rising to about 400 tests per hour when the optional ISE module is fitted for sodium, potassium and chloride.
Capacity is unusually generous for a benchtop: up to 100 sample positions and up to 100 reagent positions, split as 50 fixed and 50 interchangeable, so a laboratory can keep a wide menu onboard instead of swapping reagents between runs. The grating photometer holds a minimum reaction volume of 100 microlitres, which matters when reagent cost dominates the cost per test.
Mindray also builds HbA1c handling into the instrument: a smart-sampling function with onboard haemolysis, so whole-blood HbA1c does not need a separate pre-treatment step. Calibration is documented as a complete hierarchy following EN/ISO 17511, and Mindray states that its reference laboratory takes part in the RELA external quality programme.
Applications
- Routine clinical chemistry in clinics and small hospitals
- HbA1c testing with onboard haemolysis
- Electrolytes with the optional ISE module
- Backup or satellite laboratory work in larger hospitals
Who is this product for?
- Clinics and small hospital laboratories
- Satellite and outpatient laboratories
- Laboratories with a broad but low-volume test menu
- Sites where reagent cost per test is the deciding factor

Benchtop analyzers suit clinics and satellite laboratories; floor-standing systems take over when throughput passes roughly 300 tests per hour or when continuous reagent refrigeration becomes necessary. For immunoassay work, compare with the CL-series analyzers in the same category.
Common questions about Mindray BS-240E Chemistry Analyzer
How many tests per hour does the BS-240E run?
Mindray states a constant 240 photometric tests per hour, and up to about 400 tests per hour when the optional ISE module is fitted.
Can it run electrolytes?
Yes, with the optional ISE module for sodium, potassium and chloride. Without it the analyzer runs photometric chemistry only.
Is HbA1c supported?
Yes. The BS-240E includes a smart-sampling function with onboard haemolysis, so whole-blood HbA1c does not require a separate manual pre-treatment.
How much reagent does each test use?
The minimum reaction volume is 100 microlitres. Actual reagent consumption per test depends on the assay parameters, so ask ICEN for the reagent parameter sheet for your menu.
How is calibration traceability documented?
Mindray documents a complete calibration hierarchy and traceability chain following EN/ISO 17511, from the reference system to the routine measurement system.
What is the difference from the BS-380?
The BS-240E is a benchtop unit at 240 T/H; the BS-380 is a floor-standing analyzer at a constant 300 T/H. Choose the BS-380 when workload or menu size outgrows a benchtop.
